Sean M. Finerty, a corporate and real estate attorney with The Alvarez Firm, has more than a decade of experience negotiating and closing multi-million-dollar real estate and business transactions. Sean’s clients primarily include business owners, property owners, investors, and executives.

Sean’s areas of real estate practice include leasing, financing, development, CC&Rs, title review, exchanges, acquisitions, and sales.

Sean also regularly advises on matters of corporate formation, corporate governance, business investments, succession planning, buy-sell arrangements, mergers, and acquisitions. He has negotiated and drafted numerous contracts, including purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, operating agreements, consulting agreements, licensing agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

Examples of Sean’s work include:

  • Mezzanine loan financing for the development of a 22-story, 350-unit luxury hotel in Houston Texas, including collaboration with EB-5 investors in China.
  • General counsel services for a wide range of clients, including an innovative San Francisco-based real estate technology startup, and an independent all-natural craft soda company.
  • Property acquisition for $100 million mixed use development in Woodland Hills, California.
  • Sales and acquisitions of various businesses, including insurance brokerage firms, modeling agencies, optometry and other medical services providers, restaurants, and software service companies.
  • Representation of several non-profit organizations in obtaining multi-million dollar real estate-secured bond financings in various cities across Southern California, including Temecula, Valencia, Bakersfield, and others.

Sean received both his Bachelor’s degree in English and his law degree from Santa Clara University.

Sean is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and is admitted to the State Bar of California and the United States District Court, Northern and Central Districts of California.

Outside of practicing law, Sean enjoys watching Angels baseball, coaching youth soccer, and spending time with his wife and two children.
