
Biography for Andrew W. Zepeda, Esq.
As a business litigator, Andrew W. Zepeda, has more than twenty five years experience in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. He has handled complex litigation in the areas of construction, real estate, insurance, banking, legal malpractice, franchise offerings, First Amendment, and civil RICO. Mr. Zepeda has extensive experience in pre-trial remedies, including attachments, injunctive relief and lis pendens practice. Mr. Zepeda is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar and recently represented a client before that Court, winning a unanimous decision in Semtek International Incorporated v. Lockheed Martin Corporation, 531 U.S. 497 (2001). Martindale-Hubbell has given Mr. Zepeda its highest rating, "AV".
Before joining The Alvarez Firm, Mr. Zepeda served as General Counsel to Griffin Industries, Inc., a Calabasas based home-building and land development company. At Griffin Industries, Mr. Zepeda managed all legal affairs and directed a number of outside legal firms in specialty areas including construction defect litigation, land use planning; bond financing, construction loan documentation, and real estate acquisition, among other things.
From 1983 to 2004, Mr. Zepeda was an associate and later a shareholder of the Beverly Hills firm now known as Lurie, Zepeda, Schmalz & Hogan. Since November 2004 he has been "of counsel" to Lurie, Zepeda, Schmalz & Hogan. Before working with Lurie, Zepeda, Schmalz & Hogan, Mr. Zepeda was with Fulop & Hardee, a large national law firm based in Beverly Hills.
Mr. Zepeda is a 1979 graduate of Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California. He received his J.D. in 1982 from the University of Notre Dame Law School where he was a Justice William J. Brennan Scholar. He is a member of the Board of Governors of Thomas Aquinas College and a member of Legatus.
